Hey pple
Saturday, May 29, 2004>>>
hey everyone!
Wednesday, May 26, 2004>>>
in regard to getting james permission to do this fund raising. I disagree. I dun believe that we shoudl burden james with the idea that we all are doing this *just* for him. I think maybe it would hurt his pride. I'm sure since we are all asian we would understand that.

anyone bored? need something to read but can't find any? ermm well, like michelle always being out of point...well i found this blog a few days ago...it's written by a lady in jerusalem, about her life in jerusalem during troubled times... its amazing to hear about the brighter side of life during times like these.
so check it out : http://jerusalemgypsy.blogspot.com/
However, i have been talking to the people who organize clubs etc. in uni, and i believe it is possibel for us to set up a foundation, predominently run by ccm, and of course ofiliated with hope church.
My idea was to make a *Hope Adelaide Foundation* which would be situated in adelaide uni and help, any, people we can. Not just james, but also ppl from suddan, and maybe the homeless... or something.
It would take alot of organizing, and i am willing to put the next 3 months, almost full time to organize it. It has quite a lot of legal matters as well. I will talk to everyone further about it on thursday, and i will talk to the leaders of our church, I think it would be a great idea because we raise the recognition of christianity, and we do good at the same time.
Hey everyone, i thought that this would be an interesting post, lets make a few predictions on the people in our care good, such as, who will be the first married... eddie excluded... who will be the first millionair... etc..
Also i was thinking of making a fund to help james bring over his family.
At the moment he has 3 brothers, a little sister and his mother over in Suddan.
Suddan is a country in africa that has been in civil war for (i think) more than ten years.
Australia is able to issue perminant visa's for people at about $2000 aussi dollars each. I was thinking that it would be a good idea if we start doing some fund raisers to bring about some money so we can help james out.
I won't be able to do this by myself as i am going to go to china in september and i dun think i could raise all that money in that time. Thus i would like to hear peoples views on this. You can give your free opinion, i definitly won't hold it against you. Though i believe in the world we have today, with all the messed up things that are going on in the world. That doing a little bit to help someone out can go a long way. If anyone thinks of some ideas pls post a message or email me at ben.delaney@student.adelaide.edu.au
God bless us all.
Ben~
Cold but fun!
Pain but still fun!
hahaha... i enjoyed myself lots! :D
>"There is one vice of which no man in the world is free; which every one in the world loathes when he sees it in someone else; and of which hardly any people, except Christians, ever imagine that they are guilty themselves. I have heard people admit that they are bad-tempered, or that they cannot keep their heads about girls or drink, or even that they are cowards. I do not think I have ever heard anyone who was not a Christian accuse himself of this vice. And at the same time I have very seldom met anyone, who was not a Christian, who showed the slightest mercy to it in others. There is no fault which makes a man more unpopular, and no fault which we are more unconscious of in ourselves. And the more we have it ourselves, the more we dislike it in others.
>
>The vice I am talking of is Pride or Self-Conceit; and the virtue opposite to it, in Christian morals, is called Humility. You may remember, when I was talking about sexual morality, I warned you that the centre of Christian morals did not lie there. Well, now, we have come to the centre. According to Christian teachers, the essential vice, the utmost evil, is Pride. Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness, and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison: it was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind.
>
>If you want to find out how proud you are the easiest way is to ask yourself, 'How much do I dislike it when other people snub me, or refuse to take any notice of me, or shove their oar in, or patronise me, or show off?" The point is that each person's pride is in competition with everyone else's pride. It is because I wanted to be the big noise at the party that I am so annoyed at someone else being the big noise. Two of a trade never agree. Now what you want to get clear is that Pride is essentially competitive - is competitive by its very nature - while the other vices are competitive only, so to speak, by accident. Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man. We say that people are proud of being rich, or clever, or good-looking, but they are not. They are proud of being richer, or cleverer, or better-looking than others. If everyone else became equally rich, or clever, or good-looking there would be nothing to be proud about. It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition has gone, pride has gone. That is why I say that Pride is essentially competitive in a way the other vices are not.... Greed may drive men into competition if there is not enough to go round; but the proud man, even when he has got more than he can possibly want, will try to get still more just to assert his power. Nearly all those evils in the world which people put down to greed or selfishness are really far more the result of Pride.
>
>The Christians are right: it is Pride which has been the chief cause of misery in every nation and every family since the world began. Other vices may sometimes bring people together: You may find good fellowship and jokes and friendliness among drunken people or unchaste people. But pride always means enmity - it is enmity. And not only enmity between man and man, but enmity to God.
>
>In God you come up against something which is in every respect immeasurably superior to yourself. Unless you know God as that - and therefore, know yourself as nothing in comparison - you do not know God at all. As long as you are proud you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you."

>'MERE CHRISTIANITY' by C.S. LEWIS
yup hoped u enjoyed it...wait are u suppose to have enjoyed it in the first place...hmmm...nvm...lalala...im on a sugar high...hahahaha....
Uni is a bunch of rooms where you sit for 2,000 hours or so and try to memorise things. The 2,000 hours are spread out over four years.
You spend the rest of the time sleeping, partying, and trying to get dates.
Basically, you learn two kinds of things in uni:
1. Things you will need to know in later life (two hours).
2. Things you will not need to know in later life (1,998 hours).
The latter are the things you learn in classes whose names end in -iology, -osophy, -istry, -ics, and so on.
The idea is you memorise these things, then write them down in little exam books, then forget them. If you fail to forget them, you become a Professor and have to stay in uni for the rest of your life. After you've been in uni for a year or so, you're supposed to choose a major, which is the subject you intend to memorise and forget the most things about.
Here is a very important piece of advice: Be sure to choose a major that does not involve Known Facts and Right Answers.This means you must not major in mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, or geology because these subjects involve actual facts.
If, for example, you major in mathematics, you're going to wander into class one day and the Professor will say: "Define the cosine integer of the quadrant of a rhomboid binary axis, and extrapolate your result to five significant vertices." If you don't come up with exactly the answer the Professor has in mind, you fail.
The same is true of chemistry: If you write in your exam book that carbon and hydrogen combine to form oak, your Professor will fail you. He wants you to come up with the same answer he and all the other chemists have agreed on. Scientists are extremely snotty about this.
So you should major in subjects like English, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology - subjects in which nobody really understands what anybody else is talking about, and which involve virtually no actual facts. I attended classes in all these subjects, so I'll give you a quick overview of each:
ENGLISH: This involves writing essays about long books you have read little snippets of just before class. Here is a tip on how to get good grades on your English papers: Never say anything about a book that anybody with any common sense would say. For example, suppose you are studying Moby Dick. Anybody with any common sense would say Moby Dick is a big white whale, since the characters in the book refer to it as a big white whale roughly 11,000 times. So in your paper, you say Moby Dick is actually the Republic of Ireland. Your Professor, who is sick to death of reading essays and never liked Moby Dick anyway, will think you are enormously creative. If you can regularly come up with lunatic interpretations of simple stories, you should major in English.
PHILOSOPHY: Basically, this involves sitting in a room and deciding there is no such thing as reality and then going to lunch. You should major in philosophy if you plan to take a lot of drugs.
PSYCHOLOGY: This involves talking about rats and dreams. Psychologists are obsessed with rats and dreams. I once spent an entire semester training a rat to punch little buttons in a certain sequence, then training my roommate to do the same thing. The rat learned much faster. My roommate is now a Doctor. If you like rats or dreams, and above all if you dream about rats, you should major in psychology.
SOCIOLOGY: For sheer lack of intelligibility, sociology is far and away the number one subject. I sat through hundreds of hours of sociology courses, and read gobs of sociology writing, and I never once heard or read a coherent statement. This is because sociologists want to be considered scientists, so they spend most of their time translating simple, obvious observations into scientific-sounding code. If you plan to major in sociology, you'll have to learn to do the same thing. For example, suppose you have observed that children cry when they fall down.
You should write: "Methodological observation of the sociometrical behaviour tendencies of prematurated isolates indicates that a causal relationship exists between groundward tropism and lachrimatory behavior forms." If you can keep this up for 50 or 60 pages, you will get a large government grant.
yup....totally out of point..but hope u enjoyed it...haha...
Be Thou my Vision
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
yesterday was mothers day... did anyone not call up their moms?
well i did...2 hours before the day ended. it felt really good, even if i said 'i love you' in a really sacarstic tone... haha but she got the message.
i think 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 which eddie talked about on thursday could come at no better time...
"love is patient, love is kind...." :
mothers are so patient... they have to live with us for 21 years or maybe more (may vary) before we actually have the independence to wash our own laundry, cook and well, not do anything rash. within those 21 years they have to clean up after us and take in the stress we sometimes give them. kind, i guess their kind enough to even take us into their lives.
"...it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud...":
i've heard of proud mothers... but their pride takes of a different form...its more like, their proud we turned out right. and why should mothers boast, it would only put us down, we would feel as if they saw us as unequals...and most of the time mothers love us more than they love themselves.
"...it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs...":
ok so maybe when we argue with them... they show their anger... but that is later replaced with forgiveness. if they kept records of our wrong doings, we'd all be in serious trouble... we'd either be chucked out of the house because of all the bad stuff we do or maybe locked up in the house to safe-guard us from creating more trouble outside. they are also not rude... it would go against everything they have taught us...as in not to say swear words etc.
"...love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth...":
if my mother was delighted with evil... she would probably then be the female version of Dr. Evil from the 'austin powers' movie, raising me up to help her with her plan to dominate the entire world.
"...It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.":
all mothers protect their kids... they'd give up their lives for us. they always trust although at times it would take some persuasion from us kids to get that trust. mothers always hope...they always hope we get a good education and a bright future. lastly they persevere... they persevered with the pain they had to go through when they gave birth to us... if they didn't we wouldn't be alive.
so therefore, Mothers love us!
pls remeber to click the 'post and publish' button not just the post button. ifu click the post button the post wld not be pubised on the website.(does it make sense???hahaha)
and yes remeber to call/send a message to ur mum wishing her happy mothers day.

Thank you everyone for giving this blog your support. To add, i had wanted to post an entry about how God saw me through my most difficult times, but while typing it, i was at a lost of words because his works in my life have just been WOAH! Therefore it was really difficult for me to express myself, especially when i want to tell everyone that he works in wonderous and mysterious ways. I shall maybe share my thoughts some other day when i do find the right words. For now, i just want to say Thank you to everyone again for making my life here in Adelaide fun and enjoyable. Yesterday was our(Michelle and I) 3rd month here. Such a short time here and you all have made me feel so welcomed and i really appreciate that. I get homesick at times but just by attending CCM meetings and church and by thinking about the friendships made here, i feel so much at home. So Thank You all!
First of all I just want to say millions thankyou to all people who contributed and for all the effort that you guys have put into making this blogger happen. I am happy and feel greatly blessed by GOD about this blogger.
The blogger is still very young and really needs more improvements to be done unto it, but I have faith and I am confident that we can build a cool great blog.
Just want to thank Takashi for teaching me Japanese (even though I know that he was very tired that day, thankyou la man) and thanks for sharing with us about love as well! :-)
I want to quote a verse here to end my post:
1 John 4:16
GOD is LOVE, and all who live in love live in GOD, and GOD lives in them. Hallelujah~~~
